With over 30 years of club and high school swimming experience, Coach Dan returns for his 2nd year as Franklin Regional's Middle School and High School Head Swimming Coach. He began coaching at the Woodland Hills Aquatic Club in 1990 as an age group coach. In 1993, he took over as the Woodland Hills HS Head Swim Coach. In 1995, Coach Dan was hired as the Head Coach for FAST and also assisted with the FRHS swim team for two seasons. In 1998, he left FAST and started the Greater Pittsburgh Aquatic Club, which he ran for 8 years. One of the highlights from Dan's time at GPAC was winning the USA Swimming Virtual Club Championship for small clubs in 2005. In 2006, Coach Dan left GPAC to coach with the Fox Chapel Killer Whales. In 2014, Dan was named Head Coach of both the Fox Chapel Killer Whales and the Fox Chapel Area High School team. During his time at FC, Coach Dan has coached several WPIAL and PIAA champions as well as numerous high school athletic and academic All-Americans. Over the last 8 seasons, Coach Dan's FC teams have won over 160 dual meets, 8 section titles, 2 WPIAL runner-ups, and set 17 school records. Coach Dan is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and teaches 8th Grade Social Studies at Franklin Regional Middle School. He lives in Plum with his wife Susan and also has two daughters, Devan and Mckaley.
Frank is in his 16th year as the Franklin Regional Diving coach. Prior to joining FR, Frank coached Woodland Hills Diving for over 30 years. He has also served as the the President of the Polar Bear Club for over 40 years as well. Outside the pool, Frank has diving experince all over the world as a scuba instructor, organizes and participates in the Special Olympics Polar Plunge and Drowned Hogs Plunge for Circle C Youth Home, and enjoys spending his spare time with his wife and grandchildren.
Coach Jody is in her 4th year as FR Swim Coach and brings over 30 years of club and high school coaching experience to the team. She has also coached HS track and field, MS basketball and youth lacrosse. Coach Jody is a proud Penn State Alumnus..........WE ARE!!!! She teaches K-5 physical education at Maxwell and West Point Elementary in the Hempfield Area School District and is married to husband,Tonio and mom to daughter, Grace.
Coach Spinola has been an assistant coach with the FR Varsity Swim Team since 2015. Before coaching with FR, he was an assistant coach for the Gateway Varsity Swim Team. Additionally, he has been the head swim coach at the Murrysville Swim Club and coached for FAST since 2015. Coach Spinola, his wife and 5 children reside in Murrysville. He has been a teacher with the Gateway School District since 2001 after having taught in the Penn Hills School District. Before he was a teacher, he was a therapist. He earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and history from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master's Degree in Counseling from Duquesne University.
Jodi has been coaching for over 35 years. She has coached for FAST, Meadowink, FR Middle & High School and Emmaus High School. Jodi started swimming at the age of 4 and continued through college. She swam for FAST where she was a Jr. National Champion in the 50 free & 100 butterfly and held the Jr. National record for 11 years. Jodi was a PA State High School Champion in the 50 free her sophomore year and the 50 free and 100 free her junior year before moving to Fort Lauderdale, FL her senior year. She was a 3 time FL high school state champion her senior year where her and her teammates set the National High School record in the 200 Medley and 400 Free relays. She was a High School All-American in multiple events all 4 years of High School. In 1983, she was ranked 9th in the world in the 50 free and 8th in the 100 butterfly. She was selected to the US National Team that competed in Sweden and Germany. Jodi attended the University of Texas on a full swimming scholarship from 1983 – 1987 where she was a member of the 4x National Championship team and was a 22 time Division 1 All-American. She was selected to the 1987 USA Team that competed in Zagreb, Croatia at the World University Games. She got a bronze medal in the 100 butterfly and a gold medal as a member of the 400 medley relay. Jodi is a proud member of the inaugural class of the Franklin Regional Hall of Fame. She is currently a secretary at the FR Middle School and lives in Murrysville with her husband, Tony and two daughters, Baylee and Brooke.
